Botox / Dysport
It’s time to get serious about Botox. The stigma behind cosmetic surgery, and Botox in particular, is all but gone. Almost 8 million Americans received Botox injections in 2019, the highest ever to date, and we expect this number to continue to rise in the future due to the effectiveness of Botox treatments.
Botox has become arguably the most popular cosmetic solution for combatting the effects of aging. The treatment uses injections of botulinum toxin to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and more.
At Dynamic Dermatology, our experts utilize the most efficient, modern, and up-to-date practices for our Botox and Dysport procedures, making sure that you can achieve your cosmetic, anti-aging goals. We can all but guarantee complete satisfaction for your desired natural beauty appearance.
Botox/Dysport uses
As mentioned, Botox is an incredibly successful procedure for getting rid of those pesky, age-revealing wrinkles. This includes:
- crow’s feet
- laugh lines
- forehead creases
Botox will be most effective in these cases if the wrinkles in question are mild to moderate in appearance.
However, Botox can be used for other purposes as well, including some solutions that many individuals don’t realize! Botox can be used to treat the following:
- severe underarm perspiration
- uncontrollable blinking
- chronic migraines
- cervical dystonia (involuntary muscle spasms found in the shoulders and neck)
At a consultation you will be given all of the necessary information for your upcoming procedure. You will be told to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medication in the week or two leading up to your procedure. You will also be briefed on the procedure itself, in order to set your expectations for what is to come.If you are a suitable candidate for Botox/Dysport, your treatment will usually be able to be performed during the same appointment as your cosmetic consultation.
Botox procedure
Botox is a relatively quick procedure when compared to other non-surgical cosmetic treatments. It tends to take only a few minutes from start to finish, and usually doesn’t require any type of topical anaesthesia. Your Dynamic Dermatology expert will use a small needle to inject Botox into certain muscles in the desired area. The pain is very minimal, usually described as less painful than a normal shot or comparable to a mild bee sting.
Botox side effects
We won’t beat around the bush here, as we’ve all seen movies and tv shows with botched Botox procedures, or may even know someone who’s gotten a suspect procedure themselves. With that said, here are some potential side effects of Botox:
- numbness surrounding the injection site
- muscle weakness surrounding the injection site
- drooping smile or eyelid
- inflammation or pain surrounding the injection site
- bruising surrounding the injection site
- chronic headaches
All of these side effects, if experienced, should be gone within 24-48 hours. As with any procedure in the cosmetic field, side effects are greatly minimized by having a reputable expert, such as the ones you will find at Dynamic Dermatology.
Botox recovery
The most important item to convey post-procedure is that you be sure to avoid rubbing the injection site for at least 24 hours. You don’t want the Botox to spread away from the desired area and into other regions. You should also take a few days off from high intensity exercise. Give yourself a break here and let the Botox do its work.
You can expect a bit of heaviness surrounding the injection site for the first few days, which is completely natural and no cause for concern. This is because certain muscle contractions are no longer taking place. The feeling will go away as your face adjusts.
Botox takes between 7 to 14 days on average to achieve full effects. After a final checkup around 14 days you will be able to reveal your new, youthful appearance to the world!
